Our story

Built for children. Designed around families.

Khyber Institute of Child Health & Children Hospital was established in January 2011 as a dedicated centre for child health in Hayatabad, Peshawar. It is the academic wing of a twin-phase project that also includes a 300-bed children’s hospital.

As the first dedicated institute of its kind in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, KICH was created to close a gap: children need care designed for growing bodies, changing needs and the families who support them every day.

Today the institute combines clinical services with teaching, clinical audit and research. That connection matters. What we learn at the bedside informs how we train the next generation of health professionals — and how we improve care for the next child who walks through our doors.

Our journey

From a dedicated vision to a working institute.

KICH grew from a clear commitment to give children’s health its own home in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The institute now brings hospital services and academic learning together in one place.

Each stage of the journey has been shaped by the same question: what does a child and their family need to receive safe, respectful and effective care?

Our work is guided by a child-first approach: clinical excellence, compassion and practical support for the whole family.
